Stop, look, listen and enjoy…

We just took a two-night break at Tamborine Mountain, in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Wow. What a beautiful part of the world.

It’s years since we’ve been there.

Lush rainforest (literally on the first day!) and stunning views.

Not to mention the various tastings and testings you can do along Gallery Walk.

We came away with some lovely treats… including three different flavours of fudge, an engraved selenite heart, along with a natural salve for arthritis (for me).

A selection of gifts including fudge, an engraved selenite heart, incense sticks, teabag holder and arthritis salve.

I had my heart set on trying to do a bushwalk and as the Curtis Falls track was nearby, and fairly short in distance, we set off.

It was so much harder than I had imagined.

So many steps.

Probably the most I’ve done since my original foot surgery in mid-2023.

And, because of the rain, it was very muddy.

It was quite amusing watching people in their sparkling white footwear trying to avoid mud and puddles.

No such grace here.

In one major step down there was a huge puddle at the base.

Well isn’t that what walking boots are for?

Splush! Stepped straight down into it.

For me, it was the safest thing to do.

We made it down, very slowly, to the falls.

Often when we’ve done walks to falls in the past, you might be lucky if there’s a trickle.

Our last attempt was to Cedar Creek Falls just south of Airlie Beach…

Not a drop!

But this time we were greeted by an actual waterfall…

It was beautiful.

We also came across a rather worn sign, that really spoke to me…

Forest sign that says 'Stop, look, listen and enjoy

Stop, look, listen and enjoy…

Enjoy the tranquility of going for a bushwalk in a national park. In the rainforest your eyes may need to adjust to spot the wildlife. Take a moment to stop, look around you and listen carefully – you may be rewarded with a glimpse of some beautiful bird that you may have otherwise walked passed.

Stop, look, listen and enjoy.

It could be my mantra…

So we did.

Looking around us.

Listening to the birds and the water.

Just generally enjoying being in nature…

Breathing it all in.

Of course I then had to tackle the walk back up…

And all the steps…

Some of which were really tricky for me.

But with the help of a hiking stick and my husband, I made it!

Very hot and humid by the end.

But a real sense of achievement.

I think all up the return walk was supposed to take half an hour…

It took us an hour.

But who wants to rush being in nature?

Stop, look, listen and enjoy…

Wishing you a very happy and healthy 2026…

With lots of moments in nature.

Ann 🙏
