You’ve probably heard of the 12 days of Christmas..
You probably know it as a song… you know, the one with a partridge in a pear tree?
But do you know when the actual 12 days are?
I’d always, in the back of my head, thought of them as the 12 days running up to Christmas Day itself.
But according to English Heritage:
The original twelve days of Christmas were a series of religious feast days celebrated as part of the Roman Catholic religion in medieval and Tudor England. Starting on Christmas Day, there were 12 days of religious celebrations, feasting and entertainments that lasted all the way up to 5 January.
This coincides with the belief decorations should come down by the Twelth Night.
Although I’d always known that to be January 6th, not the 5th.
Apparently it depends on whether you count Christmas Day as the first day.
So there you go!
For many people this time of year can be quite a stressful one.
There’s suddenly so much to do.
Decorations, presents, cards…
Then there’s the social engagements and family commitments.
Not to mention food planning, buying and preparation.
I’m exhausted just writing about it.
So this year I thought I’d put together my own 12 days.

Twelve days of mindfulness.
Not running from Christmas Day…
But in the run up to Christmas Day – the really stressful bit.
It’s completely free…
All you need to do is email me ann@marvellousmeditations.com to sign up…
Then from the 13th Decemeber I will email you each day with a simple mindfulness practice.
Each of them will be completely do-able no matter where you are or what you are doing.
Some will be Christmassy themed…
Others straightforward mindfulness activities.
You can spend one minute on them, or half an hour.
It’s completely up to you.
If you like some practices better than others – just stick to those.
There are no hard and fast rules.
Each day there will be options on how you can change the practice to suit your situation.
Then, once the 12 days are over, you will have 12 practices that you can use over the Christmas period…
Over the 12 days of Christmas…
Well into the New Year and beyond.
Don’t forget to email me and I’ll be in touch soon…
Ann 🙏
